It’s been a while since I’ve written a blog post, and I’ve been home and back to the USA since I last wrote. At the moment I’m sitting in a hotel room in Portland, Oregon on a two day break from Third Day shows. We have the final four concerts of the tour coming up in Washington State and Canada. It’s strange being here in the blazing sunshine and hearing from Gill earlier today that the Ignite Hope site in Cardiff has suffered a deluge of rain. Even stranger that I arranged for a mission team from New Life church, Colorado Springs, to take part in Ignite Hope but I was only around for 2 days in Cardiff with them in the lead up to Ignite Hope before I had to fly into Salt Lake City last week. Great to hear from Gary on Skype text after the first night of Ignite Hope that 60+ young people had given their lives to Christ in the first meeting.
Two things have struck me on this last leg of the Third Day ‘Make Your Move’ tour:
- Audiences seem more grateful and worship more intensely in places where their Christian faith needs to be more robust to survive- Salt Lake City was a prime example. I guess followers of Jesus living in the capital of Mormonism must often feel marginalised, so a Third Day concert was a genuine opportunity for them to celebrate together in community. I felt a similar vibe earlier in the tour with the audience in Las Vegas. I’m sure the early church in Corinth and Ephesus felt the same. I can also remember a few years ago when we played up in the North-East of the USA, and there was a real hunger evident amongst the fans-they were desperate for more Christian events and often felt they got forgotten by the concert and speaker bandwagon.
- People who sponsor a World Vision child or buy a painting from the Gateway School are often the ones who don’t really need to because they are already giving so much of themselves and their finances. A couple who generously bid $500 for a painting, told me later when they had paid for it that they work with foster children in their town, are raising money for an orphanage in Africa, and sponsor a number of children. What is encouraging is meeting people who do take a first step into investing their resources into the Kingdom by deciding to sponsor a World Vision child. We are averaging about 60 children sponsored each night-and it is such a privilege to be the person able to activate this great adventure in people’s lives.
I am stationed orseveas in Sicily with my husband who is in the Navy. We are members of the Latin American Association and we meet once a month for good food and dancing. We have arranged to have another dance party on the 31st and are looking forward to teaching everyone the dance that Nappytabs has created. Thanks for all that you do!! SYTYCD is the BEST show out there and is doing wonderful things for the dance community and our world!!!
