Being part of a Pentecostal denomination I often hear talk of the anointing of God, and I've been reminded of it today when reloading a stack of my sermons onto this site. I'm not being arrogant when I say this but I have been immensely aware of God's anointing on me as a speaker whilst listening to bits and pieces of various sermons. Every so often really powerful and insightful phrases spring up, and I certainly hadn't written them down before, I couldn't have remembered them afterwards, and definitely wouldn't have used them had I been recording the talk in my study. Simply, they were Holy Spirit inspired, and this afternoon I've been tremendously thankful to the Lord for calling me to and equipping me for a preaching ministry and for the Holy Spirit's anointing as I preach ( well-at least most of the time when I preach!). Listen to a few of my talks and see if you can figure out the completely Holy Spirit inspired segments.
Its funny...God has been affirming and confirming my anointing this weekend too. It is amazing. Sometimes we really need it, to help keep our eyes on Him and to remind ourselves that none of this is about us, but Christ.
Also happened to be reading the 1st devotion of your book, "Seven Ways to Ignite Your Life". It speaks of 'hearing' God. I have read it before, but what hit me tonight was that God calls us by name. Should we ignore Him, when it comes to entering the kingdom, its "I dont know you". Its, not, sorry Joan you are too late...its I dont know you.
I am amazed how many ways that those four words are to be received...and yet they mean the same thing.
Thank you for being available to the Lord, Nigel and for being that special source of Light in my life. Sometimes we need that special someone to encourage us along in our Call.
And by the way...it is not being arrogant or conceited to take 'pride' in how the Lord is using you, or in the evidence of your anointing. Immediately you related it back to God and that shows your heart. It is good to be confident in Christ and that He who started a good work in us shall bring it to completion. It is good to acknowledge and see where God has come through and actually followed through with His promises! Imagine that! hahaha Seriously though...Isn't it a blast to see the Hand of God actually upon your life!?! Gotta love it!
God Bless you Nigel.
