Sitting on my bed after the first show of the mini-tour of Australia. Tonight’s concert was at Richmond Assemblies of God church, and I’ve been doing the merchandise settlement to help out- hence the late arrival back to my executive room at the hotel! Aussie crowds really love Third Day, and the guys in the band are genuinely thrilled with the reception they receive.
I travelled over here on Singapore Airlines – my journey commenced on Saturday night leaving Cardiff and finished at 10.00am Tuesday morning when I met the band in Melbourne Airport. I had a twelve-hour stopover at my new favourite airport- Changi in Singapore. It’s massive and has hotels inside the transit area, so you can check in without going through customs as long as you are travelling on somewhere. I’m doing the same on the way home.
Last night, Third Day’s Aussie production manager, Dave Jaques, invited us out to his house for a Barbie, and then this morning Brad and I got up early for 18 holes of golf at Yarra Bend Golf course. Pleasantly cool weather helped me shoot a personal best of 90- Brad’s poor round of 88 by his standards put him only 2 shots up on me, when he normally has 12-18 stokes on me over a round.
Started our devotions this evening before the show, and we invited in the support band Revive and their wives, plus staff from Koorong bookstores who are helping organise the tour. Normally our devotions can get a bit ‘us’ focused so I felt it appropriate for these ones to concentrate on some of the less familiar names attributed to Jesus in the Bible. You can see the passages we’ve examined in the list to the left.
