Just had two great days out of the office, which is always nice. Yesterday was the Ignite Golf Day, attended by 16 people at Cottrell Park Golf Course on the outskirts of Cardiff. Scorchingly hot weather made the golf itself a feat of endurance, but we all enjoyed ourselves and finished the day with a good meal and brief after dinner talks by myself and Rob Parsons. Rob's son Lloyd won the golf competition, but I did get the 'nearest the pin' prize- which in reality was the 'only one who landed on the green' prize.
Today Gary and I headed up to the Royal Welsh Show in Builth Wells. We'll be back on the site in 2 weeks times for Flames of Fire which has about 600 attend, but today there was well over 50,000 people on the showground. Another blisteringly hot day made walking around the site energy sapping, but we enjoyed ourselves. Val, Michelle, and Becky from the Ignite staff joined us and were greatly amused by our jokes and vast repertoire of stories (or at least they pretended to be).
The Royal Welsh show displays some of the best things about Wales, with a few of the wilder excesses of youth thrown in, and it's always good to visit the churches marquee which carries out presence evangelism amongst traders and visitors alike. They've used over 200 litres of orange squash ( which is then diluted) to provide free cold drinks all day long. "You've been our lifesavers" said one nearby trader thanking them for the regular supply of squash.
